A new CBS News contributor is facing potential termination after embarrassing emails between him and Jeffrey Epstein were made public.

The network recently announced 19 contributors who would be featured as experts, including Dr. Peter Attia.

However, Attia’s position is in jeopardy following revelations from the Epstein files showing his long-standing relationship with the disgraced financier.

Paramount, CBS’s parent company, indicated that Attia’s role as a contributor may be terminated before it officially commences.

Attia’s emails to Epstein included sycophantic remarks, raising concerns about his professional judgment and ethics.

Despite no official announcement of his removal, Attia attempted to address the situation in a lengthy post.

Attia clarified that his interactions with Epstein were not related to criminal activities or exploitation, but acknowledged the inappropriateness of his emails and expressed regret for the situation.

Attia recounted an email exchange with Epstein that led to embarrassing content being made public, emphasizing that his intentions were not malicious despite the inappropriate nature of the conversation.

Attia admitted that his association with Epstein was a lapse in judgment and apologized for any discomfort or distress caused by the leaked emails.

Attia explained that his actions were driven by naivety and the allure of Epstein’s extravagant lifestyle, leading him to make regrettable decisions in their interactions.

After meeting Epstein in 2014 while fundraising for scientific research, Attia acknowledged that Epstein had a reputation for funding science and mingling with reputable institutions and public figures. Despite meeting Epstein several times in New York between 2014 and 2019, Attia clarified that he never visited Epstein’s island or ranch, nor did he fly on any of Epstein’s planes.

Attia admitted that being in the company of so many high-profile individuals led him to form misguided assumptions about Epstein, which ultimately clouded his judgment. Although he confronted Epstein about his 2008 conviction early on, Epstein downplayed the charges related to prostitution.

Attia claimed that he never witnessed any illegal activity or underage individuals while in Epstein’s presence. However, after reading a Miami Herald expose in 2018, he was appalled by the revelations and urged Epstein to take responsibility for his actions. He even attempted to facilitate accountability by encouraging Epstein to pay for residential care and lifelong therapy for his victims.

Reflecting on his past actions, Attia admitted that his attempts to hold Epstein accountable were naive, and he should have disengaged once he fully understood the extent of Epstein’s actions. He emphasized that the person he is today, a decade later, would not engage with Epstein or write the emails he sent.

Attia clarified that he did not seek forgiveness or justification from his audience and acknowledged that the man he is now would handle the situation differently.
