Record Fundraising by House Democrats Signals Optimism Ahead of 2026 Midterms
In a remarkable display of financial prowess, House Democrats’ primary allies have shattered previous fundraising benchmarks, setting the stage for a vigorous campaign ahead of the 2026 midterms. The House Majority PAC, the main super PAC supporting House Democrats, alongside its affiliated nonprofit, amassed an impressive $121 million in 2025—marking the highest total for any non-election year since the PAC’s establishment in 2011.
The two organizations reported a staggering $81 million raised in just the last six months of 2025, effectively doubling their intake from the earlier half of the year. This surge in donations reflects a growing confidence among donors, likely buoyed by the party’s unexpectedly strong showings in several off-year elections. These figures were first disclosed to POLITICO.
“As Democrats continue to expand their reach and gain momentum for the 2026 midterms, we are thrilled to announce our record-breaking fundraising achievements in 2025,” declared House Majority PAC President Mike Smith. “We are eager to reclaim the House in 2026.”
To put this into perspective, the House Majority PAC raised $72 million throughout the entire 2018 election cycle. The organization’s nonprofit counterpart was only initiated in 2019. In comparison, the combined fundraising for 2023 was $76 million.
Closely tied to the leadership of House Democrats, the House Majority PAC often stands as the largest independent spender on the left in House elections. While cash flow is essential for candidates vying for congressional seats, it is just one piece of the puzzle in an electoral landscape increasingly influenced by aggressive redistricting efforts across the nation. However, the Democratic Party’s optimism is fueled by recent decisive victories in last fall’s off-year elections, which have been characterized by double-digit margins.
Yet, the question of whether the Democrats will maintain a financial edge in outside spending remains open. The Congressional Leadership Fund, the super PAC linked to Republican House leadership, has yet to disclose its fundraising figures. Notably, the CLF and its affiliated nonprofit, American Action Network, outpaced their Democratic counterparts in the first half of 2025, raising $60 million compared to $40 million.
As for the House Majority PAC, it has not revealed its current cash reserves, leaving uncertainty about how much capital they will have available for 2026 campaigns. The super PAC’s next financial disclosure is set for January 31, but the nonprofit will not file its reports until late 2026.
