“Dora the Explorer” has been a beloved children’s show for 25 years, capturing the hearts of multiple generations with its catchy phrases and engaging adventures. The animated series, created by Chris Gifford, Valerie Walsh Valdes, and Eric Weiner, originally aired on Nickelodeon and quickly became a household favorite.

The show’s iconic quotes like “Swiper, no swiping” and “Backpack, Backpack” have become ingrained in popular culture, resonating with Millennials, Gen Z, and even their Boomer parents who may have overheard the show in the background. Now, a new generation of viewers is enjoying the CGI-animated reboot of “Dora” on the streaming platform Paramount+.

As Nickelodeon and Paramount Global celebrate the 25th anniversary of “Dora the Explorer,” they are releasing a new live-action movie titled “Dora and the Search for Sol Dorado.” The film follows the fearless explorer Dora, played by Samantha Lorraine, as she embarks on a perilous journey through the Amazonian jungle in search of the ancient treasure of Sol Dorado.

The essence of “Dora the Explorer” lies in its ability to break the fourth wall and involve children in the show’s problem-solving. This interactive element has remained a core focus of the franchise, both in its animated and live-action iterations. According to Ramsey Naito, President of Nickelodeon Animation and Paramount Animation, the secret to the show’s success lies in making Dora feel like a relatable best friend to kids.

In the new movie, “Dora and the Search for Sol Dorado,” the filmmakers aim to stay true to Dora’s iconic character traits while adding new dimensions to her personality. Lorraine emphasizes Dora’s intelligence, fearlessness, and determination in the face of challenges, showcasing a more mature and capable side of the young explorer.

As part of the 25th-anniversary celebration, Paramount is launching “The Great Dora Fiesta,” which includes the release of “Dora & Diego: Rainforest Rescues” and the third season of the animated series on Paramount+. The goal is to cater to today’s digital-savvy audience while staying true to the show’s educational and entertaining mission.

Despite the changes in viewing habits and audience demographics, “Dora the Explorer” continues to inspire and entertain children of all ages. The new live-action movie promises to captivate audiences with its mix of adventure, humor, and heartwarming moments, making it a must-watch for families looking for a fun and nostalgic experience.
