Hunter Biden’s former girlfriend and mother of their 6-year-old daughter recently expressed her support for President Biden’s decision to pardon his son.
“I think what Joe did is what any loving parent would do, and not everyone will understand that,” Lunden Roberts stated in a press release from her publisher, Skyhorse.
Roberts, 33, believes that Hunter, 54, was unfairly targeted because of his father’s position as president.
She mentioned that many individuals have engaged in similar actions to Hunter’s without facing legal consequences, emphasizing the different standards applied to him due to his father’s status.
“I can’t predict the choices I would make as president, but I am a mother,” Roberts added, highlighting her unconditional love for her daughter, Navy Joan.
In the past, Roberts and Hunter were involved in a dispute over child support for Navy Joan, which was resolved when Roberts agreed to adjust the payments in exchange for Hunter building a relationship with their daughter.
Expressing her desire for President Biden to show the same level of affection to Navy Joan as he does to his own children, Roberts hopes for a grandparent role for her daughter from Biden.
Although Biden acknowledged Navy Joan as his seventh grandchild, he has yet to meet her in person.
Hunter and Roberts met in 2017 during a difficult period when Hunter was struggling with addiction. The paternity of Navy Joan was confirmed through a test in 2020.
