Los Angeles Dodgers’ first baseman Freddie Freeman made a special appearance on the popular talk show, “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” where he discussed his recent World Series victory with the team. The 35-year-old shared insights into the challenges he faced during the playoffs, particularly concerning his fitness.

Heading into the postseason, Freeman had to overcome an ankle injury that he sustained before the playoffs began. As one of the top hitters in the major leagues and a reliable defensive player, his presence was crucial for the Dodgers’ success. To add to his woes, Freeman also suffered a rib injury during batting practice, further complicating his ability to perform at his best.

Speaking about the rib injury on the show, Freeman revealed, “I had a costal cartilage defect in my sixth rib, which is essentially a broken rib. That actually happened the night before the NLDS game one, against the Padres.” Despite initial fears that the injury might sideline him for the remainder of the season, Freeman persevered and managed to play through the pain with the help of medical treatment.

In the end, Freeman emerged as the hero for the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series. Throughout the five games of the Fall Classic, he showcased his talent by batting .300, hitting four home runs, and driving in 12 runs. His outstanding performance earned him the title of World Series MVP, solidifying his place as a key player in the team’s success.

The World Series victory marked Freeman’s second career title, having previously won with the Atlanta Braves in 2021. This time, he also received the prestigious Willie Mays award, adding to the significance of the win. Despite the New York Yankees initially taking a commanding lead in game five, the Dodgers rallied back and secured a 7-6 victory, clinching the series 4-1.

Overall, Freeman’s resilience and exceptional performance on the field were instrumental in the Dodgers’ success, making him a standout player in the championship run. His journey from battling injuries to lifting the World Series trophy exemplifies his dedication and skill as a top-tier athlete.
