A recent arrest in Maryland has shed light on the disturbing activities of an online sextortion network known as “764.” Jacob William St. Peter, a 19-year-old man, was apprehended by the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office for crimes against a minor in Idaho. The charges against St. Peter include sexual abuse of a child under 16, a felony offense.

The investigation into St. Peter began when a Nampa resident reported that their child had received explicit images from an unknown adult male on various online platforms. Through digital forensic examination, authorities were able to trace the images back to St. Peter, who went by the online handle “randysaystrade” and referenced “764” in his communications with the victim.

“764” is a notorious online sextortion network identified by the FBI for targeting vulnerable children through grooming and coercive exploitation. Detective Noah Monroe of the Nampa Police Special Victims Unit emphasized the dangers of online interactions, especially for minors, and urged parents to closely monitor their children’s online activities.

Following St. Peter’s arrest in Maryland, Nampa detectives are working to identify any additional victims who may have had contact with him. Chief Joe Huff of the Nampa Police Department commended the collaborative efforts of law enforcement agencies across states in apprehending St. Peter and emphasized the importance of continued vigilance in safeguarding children from online predators.

St. Peter is currently in custody in Maryland awaiting extradition to Idaho, held on a $100,000 bond. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities conducting a forensic review of seized devices to uncover potential additional victims.

The online network “764” has been operating internationally since 2021, known for its misanthropic and sadistic tendencies. Designated as a terrorist group in Canada and a terrorist investigative priority by the FBI, “764” has been a subject of scrutiny for its exploitative and harmful activities.

For parents, teachers, and guardians seeking resources to protect children from online exploitation, the Department of Homeland Security offers valuable tools and information through the Know2Protect initiative.

As the case unfolds, it serves as a stark reminder of the dangers lurking in the digital realm and the importance of proactive measures to ensure the safety of vulnerable individuals.
