In Guadalajara, Mexico, the facade of the Torre San Luis hotel is adorned with thousands of handmade ceramic tiles, arranged intricately like a puzzle. This striking display of abstract shapes, reminiscent of a lush garden, is the result of a collaboration between Alex Proba and the artisans of Cerámica Suro.
The installation, named “Shape of Movement,” seamlessly integrates Proba’s organic visual style with colors that mirror the surroundings. Earthy tones, combined with dusty pinks and blues, reflect the sun-soaked landscape, while the forms seem to be in a state of motion.

Proba explains, “The work is about the movement we carry through spaces every day. I wanted the mural to feel as if the shapes are interacting with one another and flowing through the architecture itself.”
This marks the second collaboration between Proba and Cerámica Suro, following a colorful swimming pool installation at a Miami home. More of their work can be seen on Instagram through Alex Proba’s and Cerámica Suro’s profiles.
