A scandal involving a school secretary, Alicia Hughes, has taken a new turn as her interrogation footage has been released to the public. The video shows Hughes admitting to having sexual relations with an 18-year-old student, which led to her arrest on five counts of child seduction. However, the lead prosecutor, David Daly, has expressed concerns that the release of the video could jeopardize Hughes’ right to a fair trial.

Daly emphasized that the video was not authorized by his office, and he is dedicated to ensuring a fair trial for both Hughes and seeking justice for the victims involved in the case. In the video, Hughes can be seen breaking down in tears as she confesses to her inappropriate relationship with the 18-year-old student. When questioned about other possible encounters with students, she invokes her right to legal representation.

Despite the controversy surrounding the release of the video, Union City police defended their actions, stating that they were within their rights to share the footage. The police department clarified that the portion of the video released did not contain any admission of criminal conduct involving a minor. Hughes, who has been suspended from her position at Randolph Eastern School Corporation, is currently being held on a $25,000 bond awaiting trial.

If convicted, Hughes could face up to six years in prison and a $10,000 fine for each of the five charges against her. Her trial date has been set for June 15th, where the full extent of her actions will be brought to light. The case continues to unfold as both the prosecution and defense prepare for the legal proceedings ahead.
