Influencer Family Fined for Taking Kids Out of School to Visit Disney World
An influencer family, Noel and Sue Radford, recently faced a fine after taking some of their children out of school to travel to Disney World earlier this year. The Radford family embarked on a trip to Orlando, Florida, in April, where they shared photos of their experiences meeting characters, watching parades, and enjoying themed cuisine.
Months later, it was reported by LancsLive that the family was fined for their children’s lack of regular attendance at school between March 24 and May 1. The Preston Magistrates Court charged £65 per child and an additional £118 to cover court costs.
This incident occurred following the U.K. Department for Education’s policy on parents taking children out of school, emphasizing the importance of good attendance for overall well-being and academic performance. The department stated that children are only allowed to miss school in exceptional circumstances, such as illness or with prior permission from the school.
Penalty Notices, parenting orders, education supervision orders, and school attendance orders are enforcement options available to local authorities and schools if a child misses school without a valid reason. Lancashire County Council highlighted the significance of supporting schools in ensuring good attendance and academic achievement.
The Radford family, known for their appearances on the U.K. docuseries “15 Kids and Counting,” announced the return of “22 Kids and Counting” in 2024. With 22 children and 13 grandchildren, the couple shared insights into their family dynamics, emphasizing their commitment to each other and their children.
