INNIO Group, a leading energy solution and service provider, has announced a partnership with Greenville Electric Utility System (GEUS) to supply technology for a cutting-edge 104MW power plant in Texas, US. This state-of-the-art facility is designed to enhance grid stability, support peak load demands, and facilitate greater integration of renewable energy sources.

Scheduled for commissioning in mid-2027, the power plant features 11 J920 FleXtra engines, each capable of delivering 9.5MW. These engines are equipped with advanced cooling systems and emissions-aftertreatment systems to ensure optimal performance and environmental sustainability.

INNIO Group’s President and CEO, Olaf Berlien, expressed enthusiasm about the project, stating, “This project is a milestone for Texas and for INNIO. With fast-start capability, flexibility, and sustainability, we are creating the energy infrastructure that modern grids need: reliable, growth-promoting, and supporting the expansion of renewables.”

The J920 FleXtra engines boast impressive fast-start capabilities, capable of reaching full load in just two minutes. This rapid response time is essential for meeting the increasing demands of over 17,200 customers in Greenville, Texas, and the surrounding area.

GEUS General Manager, Bill Shepherd, emphasized the significance of the project, noting, “This project is more than an infrastructure upgrade; it’s a commitment to supply the Greenville community with fast-start, low-cost, reliable generation for years to come. As our community grows, having a power resource that can respond instantly to peak demand is essential.”

The new power plant will have the capacity to cover peak loads exceeding 125MW, ensuring a reliable and cost-effective energy supply for the region. GEUS, the oldest of the 72 municipally-owned utilities in Texas, serves over 16,600 electric customers and more than 5,000 cable and Internet customers in Greenville.

The collaboration between INNIO and GEUS on this innovative power plant underscores their commitment to sustainable energy solutions and reliable grid infrastructure. By leveraging advanced technology and expertise, the partners aim to meet the evolving energy needs of the community while promoting environmental stewardship.
