Kiefer Sutherland’s Arrest History: A Complete Timeline
Aside from his DUI-related arrests, Kiefer Sutherland has also found himself in trouble with the law for alleged assaults.
The actor, known for his role in A Few Good Men, turned himself in to the New York Police Department in 2009 after allegedly head-butting costume designer Jack McCollough at a Met Costume Institute Gala after-party. Sutherland was charged with one count of misdemeanor and issued an appearance citation.
Sutherland’s representative, Michael C. Miller, released a statement saying, “We are troubled by the untruthful and self-serving information circulating regarding Kiefer Sutherland and events of last Monday evening. We are confident, however, that the investigation being conducted by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office and the NYPD will confirm that Kiefer Sutherland was neither the instigator nor a wrongdoer in this incident. Out of respect for this law enforcement process, Kiefer Sutherland will not be making any comment.”
Ultimately, McCollough dropped the charges against Sutherland.
On January 12, Sutherland was arrested in Los Angeles after an alleged altercation with a rideshare driver. LAPD officials stated, “The investigation determined that the suspect, later identified as Kiefer Sutherland, entered a rideshare vehicle, physically assaulted the driver (the victim), and made criminal threats toward the victim.” Sutherland was arrested at the scene for Criminal Threats.
Fortunately, the driver did not sustain any injuries requiring medical treatment.
Sutherland was released on a $50,000 bond and was ordered to appear at the Los Angeles Superior Court on February 2.
