Just because a film has musical elements doesn’t make it less valid or artistically valuable. It’s a shame the cast and director felt they needed to distance themselves from the genre, rather than embracing it.

So, to answer the question – yes, Joker: Folie à Deux is a musical. And it’s an excellent one at that.

Overall, Joker: Folie à Deux is a film that tries to be too clever for its own good. With a lack of acknowledgment of its comic book roots and underutilization of its talented cast, including Lady Gaga, the film falls short of its potential. The decision to distance itself from the musical genre and DC universe may have been a misstep, leaving audiences feeling confused and disconnected from the story.

While there are moments of brilliance and standout performances, the overall experience is marred by a lack of cohesion and direction. Perhaps this was intentional, as director Todd Phillips may have wanted to provoke thought and discussion with his polarizing film. However, the execution leaves much to be desired, and the film ultimately fails to deliver on its promise.

As audiences continue to dissect and debate the merits of Joker: Folie à Deux, one thing is clear – this film will be remembered for its bold choices and divisive reception. Whether it is hailed as a misunderstood masterpiece or condemned as a pretentious misfire, Joker: Folie à Deux will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression on those who experience it.

Lady Gaga’s performance in the film “A Star is Born” has received widespread acclaim, with many praising her for her portrayal of a struggling singer who rises to fame. However, some critics have pointed out that the film may have missed the mark by not fully embracing its genre and source material.

The film, which is a remake of the 1937 classic, tells the story of a seasoned musician, played by Bradley Cooper, who discovers and falls in love with a young singer, portrayed by Gaga. As their careers take off, they face challenges that threaten to tear them apart.

While Gaga’s performance has been lauded for its emotional depth and authenticity, some critics have suggested that the film played it safe by not fully embracing its roots in the musical genre. They argue that the film could have been even more powerful if it had fully embraced its musical elements and allowed Gaga to truly let loose.

Despite this criticism, “A Star is Born” has been a commercial and critical success, with many praising the chemistry between Gaga and Cooper, as well as the film’s emotional impact. Gaga’s performance has been singled out as a highlight, with many predicting that she could be a frontrunner for the Best Actress Oscar.

In conclusion, while “A Star is Born” may have played it safe in terms of its genre and source material, Gaga’s performance shines through as a standout element of the film. Whether or not she takes home the Oscar remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure – Gaga’s star is definitely on the rise.
