Chicago-based MC Lucki recently disclosed that Drake sent him a DM on Instagram, offering well wishes for his upcoming album release coinciding with Drizzy’s ICEMAN. In March 2026, Lucki announced that his fifth studio album, Dr*gs R Bad, would be available on May 15. Meanwhile, in April 2026, Drake revealed his eagerly anticipated solo album, ICEMAN, would also be released on May 15 through an ice sculpture in Toronto.
Hot New Hip Hop reports that Lucki has declined to change his release date, despite it coinciding with the Canadian star’s highly anticipated project, which has been teased for a year.
Lucki recently shared Instagram DMs from Drake, who seemed aware of their shared release date and expressed enthusiasm, messaging Lucki, “It’s our day” and “I am hype to hear.”
Lucki posted a screenshot of the alleged DM to his Instagram Story on May 7, responding to Drake with a heart emoji and a salute emoji. He captioned the Story “Co-goating.”
Even after Drake’s announcement of the May 15 release of ICEMAN, Lucki showed no intention of altering his album’s release. On April 21, the day streamer Kishka unveiled ICEMAN‘s release date by breaking down the ice sculpture, Lucki mentioned in an X post that he might consider delaying his album if he didn’t have “so much new swag,” adding:
“Maybe i would push the album back if I didnāt have so much new swag. But me & Aubz 5/15 lets go.”
Lucki first revealed Dr*gs R Bad in March 2025 and discussed its themes and title in a June 2025 interview with Kids Take Over, emphasizing that the project does not glorify drug use. The rapper, who has been candid about his struggles with substance abuse and pill addiction, stated:
“Cause drugs are bad, and you canāt say Iām glorifying it if Iām telling you drugs are bad. They be like, ‘Heās still doing drugs,’ Like, n***a, [ā¦] I didnāt say I was a f*cking role model. You donāt have to do what Iām doing, Iām not LeBron James, like, just take care of your family.”
Drake teased ICEMAN on Instagram
Drake heightened excitement for his much-anticipated album, ICEMAN, by posting three cryptic messages on Instagram on April 22, following the announcement of the album’s release date. Each post spelled out ICEMAN vertically, with the first message reading, “WHEN I CALL YOUR BLUFF MAKE SURE YOU ANSWER ME ON THAT FIRST RING.ā The subsequent posts stated:
āPLEASE STOP MISTAKING CHAT FOR FACT, REELS FOR REALITY, STREAMING FOR FLOW, AND LIKE FOR LOVE, THANK YOUā
āHERE IS SOMETHING YOU CAN ALL CRITICIZE AND PRETEND DOES NOT MAKE YOU FEEL BETTER THAN EVERYTHINGā
On May 4, 2026, Drake announced the release of episode four of his ICEMAN series, set for May 14, one day before the album’s launch. The series began with its first episode in July 2025, followed by two more episodes that year.
In a November 2025 interview with Complex, Drake explained his shift towards livestreaming for the album rollout as he was “dying for a challenge,” suggesting that the final ICEMAN episode would be their “best work.”
ICEMAN marks Drake’s first solo album since his 2023 LP For All The Dogs.
