As anticipated by many, Israeli forces have executed an interception of the Aid Flotilla destined for Gaza, resulting in the detention of hundreds of activists.
This operation unfolded in international waters, under 100 miles from its intended port, after the flotilla disregarded a series of “final directives” to alter its course.
The Spanish and Italian Navy warships initially escorting the flotilla opted to withdraw days prior, avoiding confrontation with the Israeli Navy.
Among those apprehended is Swedish activist Greta Thunberg, who stands alongside approximately 500 others.
Watch: Israeli forces board the flotilla boats.
INTERCEPTION
Israeli forces have unlawfully boarded the Flotilla’s vessel Oxygono and additional boats while in international waters. Communications have been cut off, and the well-being of those on board remains uncertain. BREAKING: The Global Sumud Flotilla is being intercepted by the Israeli navy.
So close to Gaza, yet so far.
This criminal entity will not permit even a single vessel to reach those in need. Compassion itself is under blockade.

The Telegraph reported:
“The Alma, with the Swedish activist aboard, was among the first to be reportedly boarded by Israeli forces. It remains unclear how many vessels have been seized and the total number of arrests made among the 40-boat flotilla carrying around 500 activists.”
“As it neared Gaza, the flotilla encountered a barrier of approximately 20 warships and experienced signal jamming, receiving multiple warnings to surrender their aid cargo and return to port, significantly disrupting communications.”
Watch: Greta Thunberg detained. Israeli authorities claim she is safe and healthy.
Currently, several vessels from the Hamas-Sumud flotilla have been successfully intercepted, with passengers transferred to an Israeli port.

Activists were observed donning life vests and forming a circle on deck as they braced for the impending interception.
“The flotilla, which departed from Barcelona in August, aimed to deliver food and medicine to the enclave under a naval blockade.”
[…] The Israeli navy contended it had instructed the flotilla to redirect to the port of Ashdod in Israel to unload their supplies. They warned the activists of their approach into an active combat zone, claiming a violation of a lawful blockade.”
Watch: Greta before interception.
