Former India cricketer Parthiv Patel has commended Suryakumar Yadav for his impressive form in recent matches. He pointed out that the Indian captain’s batting in the last two innings has shown a significant improvement compared to his previous performances.
In the third T20I against New Zealand, India bowled well to restrict the visitors to 153/9 after opting to field first. Suryakumar played a crucial role in the chase, scoring an unbeaten 57 off just 26 balls as India comfortably chased down the target with eight wickets and 10 overs to spare.
Speaking on Star Sports, Parthiv praised Suryakumar for capitalizing on his good form from the previous innings. He emphasized the importance of a single good inning for a batter to regain confidence and build on it. Parthiv highlighted the noticeable difference in Suryakumar’s approach and technique in the recent matches.
The former wicketkeeper also noted Suryakumar’s natural instinct in playing shots like the Supla shot, without forcing it like he did before. Suryakumar’s unbeaten 57-run knock in the third T20I included six fours and three sixes, showcasing his attacking prowess with the bat.
In a separate discussion, veteran leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal spoke about the challenges of bowling to a batsman like Suryakumar Yadav. Chahal mentioned the difficulties in setting fields and bowling plans against Suryakumar, especially when he is in good form and timing the ball well.
Chahal admitted that he often found it challenging to contain Suryakumar, considering his ability to play a variety of shots all around the ground. The spinner revealed that he sometimes preferred to give Suryakumar a single to rotate the strike and focus on bowling to the other batsman at the crease.
Suryakumar Yadav’s partnership with Abhishek Sharma in the third T20I was instrumental in India’s victory, as they put on an unbeaten 102-run stand for the third wicket. Abhishek Sharma’s explosive 68 off just 20 balls complemented Suryakumar’s aggressive innings, guiding India to a comprehensive win over New Zealand.
Overall, Suryakumar Yadav’s recent performances have garnered praise from former cricketers and current players alike, highlighting his impact and importance in the Indian team’s middle order. His ability to adapt and excel in pressure situations bodes well for India’s T20I campaign moving forward.
