Longtime New York Knicks enthusiast Stephen A. Smith fired back at Josh Hart on Friday following Hart’s strong remarks about the NBA analyst. The exchange began when Smith expressed his firm opinions regarding Hart and his teammate, Mikal Bridges.

Subsequently, Hart addressed Smith through the media on Thursday, questioning Smith’s loyalty as a Knicks fan and urging him to cease his commentary.

“For me, I think Stephen A., as a part-time Knicks fan, needs to shut the hell up. He barely knows guys that are on the team,” Hart said via Steve Popper on X.

On Friday, Smith responded to Hart on the latest episode of ESPN’s “First Take.”

“Josh Hart, number one, I don’t need to know you, I don’t need to talk to you I get paid to talk about you,” Smith said. “Somehow, someway, they haven’t learned that, Perk.

“They want to ignore the fact that I have been covering the NBA for over 30 years. The last time the New York Knicks won a championship was 24 or 22 years before Josh was born.

“I find nothing disrespectful about what he said,” he continued. “You’re absolutely entitled to clap back… but it don’t make you right.”

Smith’s critique of the Knicks intensified following their performance against the Charlotte Hornets on Thursday. New York’s seven-game winning streak came to an end with a 114-103 loss, which Smith attributed to a lack of effort.

The ESPN analyst pointed out that Kon Knueppel and LaMelo Ball managed to outrebound the Knicks’ starting five 16–15.

Stephen A. Smith Believes the Boston Celtics Can Take Over the East

While acknowledging the Knicks’ potential to compete in the Eastern Conference, Stephen A. Smith expressed his preference for another team. On his Thursday show, “The Stephen A. Smith Show,” he identified the Boston Celtics as the top team in the conference.

Smith emphasized that if NBA star Jayson Tatum continues to improve and strengthen the Celtics, the team’s prospects will rise. According to him, Tatum’s development this season will significantly elevate Boston’s performance.

He further asserted that the Celtics are currently superior to the New York Knicks and have outperformed both the Detroit Pistons and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

No one anticipated the Celtics securing the No. 2 spot in the conference, especially since they began the season without Tatum. However, the team’s collective effort has been surprising, with Jaylen Brown emerging as a key leader by delivering an MVP-caliber season.
