Jason Kelce is a man of many talents.

After hanging up his helmet with the Philadelphia Eagles, the former star defensive lineman and current Monday Night Countdown commentator recently displayed his unexpected musical prowess, warming up the crowd at the Baltimore Ravens versus Detroit Lions game on Monday, September 22, at M&T Bank Stadium.

In a lively pregame show, Kelce, at 37, joined forces with the Ravens’ marching band to perform a spirited rendition of the beloved Monday Night Football theme song. Dressed in a striking purple uniform and donning a black hat that seemed to flirt with his nose, Kelce lit up the stage. Upon completion, he celebrated with cheers and high-fives for his fellow musicians.

The NFL took to Instagram, sharing videos of Jason’s unforgettable performance, a sentiment echoed on the account of his brother, Travis Kelce, through their joint “New Heights” podcast.

“LET’S F***ING GOOOOOO!!! He’s crushing it!!!” wrote Travis, 35, exuding the enthusiasm we’ve all come to expect from the Kelce brothers.

The baritone saxophone is one of Kelce’s well-hidden talents. During his high school days at Cleveland Heights, he played this instrument in the jazz band, showcasing a dedication to music that still defines him today. Alongside former Eagles teammates, he has also formed a musical ensemble known as The Philly Specials, which has released three festive albums.

In a 2024 episode of “New Heights,” he elaborated on the significant role that the saxophone has played in shaping his life.

“Mr. Baker was a phenomenal band director and jazz ensemble guru,” Jason recalled. “I tell people all the time, being involved in band and music in general has really helped me excel in sports and other endeavors. I urge kids to explore various interests and activities; the more you engage, the more unique pieces you bring to the table.”

Through music, Jason grasped “the importance and the value of practice” along with the necessity for improvement through failure.

“The first time you pick up an instrument, you’ll probably sound awful,” he expressed. “But with persistent practice, you will improve—it’s as straightforward as that and so undeniably impactful on your performance.”

In a 2024 interview with Glamour, his wife, Kylie Kelce, remarked on Jason’s diverse interests during high school, noting, “He played the baritone saxophone, which not a lot of people know about. If our four daughters express an interest in music or the arts, we will be fully supportive, encouraging them to explore everything to discover their passions.”
