Jason Sudeikis Responds to Backlash Against “Ted Lasso” Season 3

Jason Sudeikis recently addressed the criticism surrounding the third season of “Ted Lasso,” dismissing those who were unhappy with the direction of the beloved soccer dramedy. In an interview for the oral history book “Believe: The Untold Story Behind Ted Lasso, the Show That Kicked Its Way Into Our Hearts,” Sudeikis suggested that critics lacked imagination and were unwilling to fully engage with the show’s narrative.

According to author Jeremy Egner, some viewers complained that Season 3 of “Ted Lasso” scattered the core cast into different storylines and felt that the narrative had become too diffuse and unfocused. Despite the backlash, Sudeikis defended the season, comparing it to live theater and emphasizing the need for audience participation.

Sudeikis remarked, “Some people want to judge — they don’t want to be curious.” He added, “I’ll never understand people who will go on talking about something so brazenly that they, in my opinion, clearly don’t understand. They don’t have imaginations and they’re not open to the experience of what it’s like to have one.”

The actor, who has received critical acclaim for his role in “Ted Lasso,” defended the characters in Season 3, stating that they all grew and developed throughout the season. Sudeikis expressed his belief that the show left things in a better place than where they started, and urged viewers to see the positive aspects of the season.

Despite initial speculation that “Ted Lasso” would conclude after Season 3, it was reported that the show is set to return for a fourth season. Warner Bros. Television has picked up options on original cast members, indicating that the series will continue with Sudeikis likely involved as an executive producer.
