New York Post Reveals Auction of Jeffrey Epstein’s Palatial Viennese Desk
The New York Post recently uncovered the sale of items from Millea Bros. Auctioneers’ “select” auctions, with one of the highlighted items being a “Palatial Viennese desk, ex House of Liechtenstein.”
Described as a piece from Austria-Hungary dating back to around 1820, this map desk features a large rectangular top supported by pedestal bases, each equipped with four front-to-back drawers and brass escutcheons with rosette covers. The provenance of this desk includes a purchase from J.P. Molyneux Studio in Paris in 2006, with a connection to the House of Liechtenstein.
Surprisingly, there is no mention of Jeffrey Epstein in the item’s description, despite the desk being prominently featured in photographs of Epstein’s living room at his 20,000 square-foot mansion on East 71st Street. This mansion was raided by federal authorities in 2019 following Epstein’s indictment for alleged sex trafficking of minors.
The opening bid for this luxurious desk is set at $2,500, with an expected sale price ranging between $5,000 and $7,000. The allure of owning a piece with such a rich history and intriguing past is sure to draw interest from collectors and enthusiasts alike.
