Jennifer Aniston is set to take on a new role in a series inspired by Jennette McCurdy’s memoir, “I’m Glad My Mom Died,” which is coming to Apple TV+. The show has been given a 10-episode order and will delve into the struggles of a former child actor dealing with her overbearing mother, played by Aniston. The dramedy will explore the codependent relationship between an 18-year-old actress and her narcissistic mother who revels in her identity as a “starlet’s mother.”
McCurdy, known for her work on shows like “iCarly” and various TV series and films, published her memoir in 2022, quickly becoming a New York Times bestseller. She, along with Ari Katcher, will write, executive produce, and showrun the series. Aniston will not only star in the show but also serve as an executive producer through Echo Films. Other executive producers include Sharon Horgan, Stacy Greenberg, Dani Gorin, Tom Ackerley, Josey McNamara, Jerrod Carmichael, and Erica Kay.
This project expands Aniston’s collaboration with Apple TV+, as she currently stars in and executive produces the popular drama “The Morning Show,” which is set to launch its fourth season in September. The partnership with Horgan is also a familiar one, as Horgan previously developed the series “Bad Sisters” for Apple TV+.
McCurdy is represented by CAA, Jill Fritzo PR, and Hansen, Jacobson. Aniston is represented by CAA, Lighthouse Management & Media, and Hansen Jacobson. Horgan is represented by United Agents in the UK, WME in the US, and Nelson Davis. LuckyChap is represented by Entertainment 360, CAA, Narrative, and attorney Jeff Bernstein. Katcher is represented by WME, Entertainment 360, and Ziffren Brittenham. Carmichael is represented by WME, Entertainment 360, and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole.
With an exciting cast and talented team behind the scenes, this series is sure to be a must-watch on Apple TV+. Stay tuned for more updates on this intriguing project.
