Jeremy Strong Set to Star in Netflix Series Adaptation of Jonathan Franzen’s “Crossroads”
Jeremy Strong has been confirmed for a lead role in the upcoming Netflix series adaptation of Jonathan Franzen’s novel “Crossroads.” The project, currently in development, is being produced by Media Res, with Strong not only starring but also serving as an executive producer. Amy Herzog, known for her work on “Scenes From a Marriage” and “Savant,” is set to write and executive produce the adaptation. Franzen himself is also on board as an executive producer, along with Michael Ellenberg and Lindsey Springer of Media Res.
According to the series description, “Crossroads” follows a Midwestern pastor and his family as their lives unravel in the aftermath of a church scandal. Each family member finds themselves pursuing desire and freedom in different directions, in this darkly funny, epic American family drama set in the early 1970s.
The novel “Crossroads” was originally published in 2021 and is the first installment of Franzen’s planned trilogy titled “A Key to All Mythologies.”
This project marks another major TV endeavor for Jeremy Strong at Netflix, following his current work on the series adaptation of “The Boys From Brazil” and his upcoming role in the Paramount+ limited series “9/12.” Strong is widely recognized for his Emmy-winning performance as Kendall Roy on the hit HBO series “Succession,” as well as his acclaimed roles in films such as “The Big Short” and “Zero Dark Thirty.”
Strong, represented by WME, Range, Hansen Jacobson, and ID, has established himself as a versatile and talented actor in both television and film.
Media Res, the production company behind “Crossroads,” has a successful track record with projects like “The Morning Show” and “Pachinko” at Apple TV. Amy Herzog, in addition to her TV writing credits, is a celebrated playwright with multiple Tony Award nominations to her name.
The collaboration between Strong, Franzen, Herzog, and Media Res promises to deliver a compelling and engaging adaptation of “Crossroads” for Netflix audiences. Stay tuned for more updates on this highly anticipated series.
