Jill Biden dismisses Democrats’ infighting concerns: ‘Things are going to move forward’
SHARE

Former first lady Jill Biden dismissed Democrats’ worries that her new memoir is stirring up past conflicts, asserting that the party is moving beyond the 2024 election.

In an interview on Monday on NBC’s “Today,” she addressed concerns about “reopening old wounds” by saying, “Democrats have a great future. We’re looking forward to winning the midterms. Things are going to move forward. … And yes, we’re going to look back and learn from the mistakes we made.”

Jill Biden is currently promoting her memoir, which has posed challenges for Democrats. Some party members privately express that her reemergence in the public sphere serves as a “distraction” that could revive painful memories of the election, at a time when the focus should be on future victories.

Her book reveals details about then-President Joe Biden’s disastrous 2024 debate, which she describes as career-ending. Watching her husband on stage, she was “frightened” and suspected he might be experiencing a medical issue.

This revelation has not been well-received by fellow Democrats and former White House staff, considering her steadfast support for Joe Biden during that period.

“I had to lift him up [after the debate]. I’m his wife,” Jill Biden explained to NBC. “I’m not going to get out on the stage there and say, ‘Joe, you really screwed that up.’”

Her press tour coincides with Democrats still grappling with their long-awaited analysis of the 2024 presidential election. The report, marred by errors, failed to clarify the reasons for the Democrats’ defeat and overlooked the former president’s age, sparking renewed party discord.
