Jimmy Fallon poked fun at Donald Trump’s recent decision to impose tariffs on Canada and Mexico, joking that the president may not see them as American allies.
During his Monday night monologue on the “Tonight Show,” Fallon quipped, “People are wondering why Trump would start a war with our closest allies, and he was like, ‘I didn’t say anything about Russia and North Korea.'”
Trump’s announcement of new tariffs on imports from Mexico and Canada, the country’s top trading partners, has sparked concerns of a potential trade war.
Despite his warm words for leaders in Russia and North Korea, Trump’s decision to impose tariffs on Mexico and Canada has raised eyebrows.
In response to the escalating tensions, Mexico and Canada have retaliated with their own tariffs. However, on Monday, Trump decided to delay the tariffs for 30 days to allow for negotiations with the neighboring nations.
