Jeff Garcia, the talented voice actor known for his role as Sheen in the beloved “Jimmy Neutron” franchise, passed away on Wednesday at the age of 50. The news of his death was confirmed by Variety.
Garcia was taken off life support at a hospital in Southern California surrounded by his loved ones after battling health issues. Reports suggest that he suffered from a brain aneurysm earlier this year, followed by a stroke. He was hospitalized in late November for pneumonia, and unfortunately, his lung collapsed on Tuesday.
His Hollywood career skyrocketed with the 2001 film “Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius,” where he brought the character of Sheen Estevez to life. He continued to voice Sheen in 59 episodes of the Nickelodeon series “The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius” and in various TV movie spinoffs.
In addition to his work on “Jimmy Neutron,” Garcia also led a spinoff series called “Planet Sheen,” a sci-fi comedy that aired from 2010 to 2013.
Garcia’s distinctive voice could also be heard in other projects such as the “Barnyard” series, where he voiced Pip the Mouse. He lent his voice to characters in popular films like “Happy Feet,” “Marmaduke,” and “Rio” and its sequel.
Apart from his voice acting roles, Garcia was also a stand-up comedian who performed regularly at the Laugh Factory. He appeared in live-action projects like the TV series “Mr. Box Office” and the film “Holy Cash.” Fans of his work had the opportunity to meet him at animated conventions, where he engaged with those who grew up watching “Jimmy Neutron” and his other projects.
