Alex Rodriguez regrets advising Patrick Mahomes to choose baseball over football, but former Minnesota Twins player Joe Mauer made a similar decision and has no regrets about it, as he revealed to TMZ Sports.
Mauer, a former high school football star, was once the top recruit in the country and even accepted a scholarship to play for Bobby Bowden‘s Florida State Seminoles. However, after being drafted by the Twins in the MLB, he chose to pursue a career in baseball.
Reflecting on his decision, Mauer expressed contentment with choosing baseball over football.
During his 15-year career in the MLB, Mauer achieved a .306 batting average and earned six All-Star appearances. His accomplishments culminated in his induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame this summer.
While Mauer’s football potential was undeniable, his success in baseball solidified his decision and left no room for doubt among Twins fans.
