Jon Favreau‘s highly anticipated Disney+ series focusing on Oswald the Lucky Rabbit has just announced a new addition to its cast. Amy Sedaris will be joining the show, as reported by Variety.
Sedaris joins the already confirmed young stars Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Mykal-Michelle Harris, and Ryder Allen in this animation/live-action hybrid series centered around Oswald. While specific plot details are being kept secret, sources have revealed that Sedaris will be portraying the mother of Allen’s character, Taylor.
This role marks another collaboration between Sedaris and Favreau, following their work together on projects like “Chef” and “The Lion King.” Sedaris also lent her voice to a character in Favreau’s “Star Wars” series, including “The Mandalorian” and “The Book of Boba Fett.”
Apart from her collaborations with Favreau, Sedaris is well-known for her work on the cult classic comedy “Strangers with Candy,” which she co-created. Her impressive resume includes TV shows like “At Home with Amy Sedaris” and “BoJack Horseman,” as well as film roles in “Jennifer’s Body,” “Puss in Boots,” and “Elf.” She received two Emmy nominations for “At Home with Amy Sedaris” in the Outstanding Variety Sketch Series category.
Represented by UTA and Schreck Rose, Sedaris is set to bring her unique talent to Favreau’s “Oswald” series where he serves as writer, executive producer, and director. The show will be produced by Walt Disney Studios.
Oswald the Lucky Rabbit holds a special place in Disney history, having been created by Walt Disney and Ubbe Iwerks in 1927. After Universal Pictures gained control of Oswald in 1928, Disney and Iwerks went on to create Mickey Mouse. The rights to Oswald were later reacquired by The Walt Disney Company in 2006, with the character entering the public domain in 2023.
Fans are eagerly anticipating the release of “Oswald” on Disney+, as the series promises to bring the beloved character back to the spotlight in a fresh and exciting way.
