The 2026 midterm election is shaping up to be a potentially triumphant affair for the Republicans. With their president’s approval rating plummeting, the party faces a slew of challenges. Their flagship legislation is historically unpopular, and the Senate race in Georgia, once perceived as competitive, is swinging in favor of Democratic incumbent Sen. Jon Ossoff as the campaign unfolds.

The Ossoff campaign recently reported some remarkable fundraising achievements:

Sen. Jon Ossoff’s re-election effort is gaining traction, announcing an impressive $10 million raised in the second quarter of 2025, with a total of $15.5 million currently in the bank.

This robust fundraising performance underscores that Ossoff’s campaign is predominantly fueled by small-dollar contributions, with over 387,100 individual donors participating in 2025. The average contribution stood at $32, and nearly 98% of the second quarter’s unitemized donations were $100 or less. Furthermore, Ossoff has garnered support from 156 out of 159 counties across Georgia, indicating his widespread appeal.

With palpable momentum heading into next November, Ossoff has established a formidable and proactive organizing operation. Recent months have seen thousands rallying at his first campaign event in Atlanta, and more than 1,700 individuals have stepped forward to volunteer. Additionally, the Senator has effectively challenged former Trump officials, drawing significant public engagement and attention.

Even among Republican pollsters, early indications show Sen. Ossoff with a lead, while neutral polls suggest he could be ahead by as much as ten points.

Governor Brian Kemp’s decision not to challenge Ossoff has effectively diminished the GOP’s best chance to flip the seat. While the dynamics of Georgia politics are unpredictable, the race is currently leaning in Ossoff’s favor.

The early indicators clearly favor the incumbent Democratic senator. Should national conditions continue to falter for the Republican Party, Jon Ossoff is well-positioned to secure re-election come November.
