In Allan Unger’s latest action comedy film “London Calling,” Josh Duhamel takes on a new look that audiences may not immediately recognize. The typically handsome leading man went bald for his role in the movie, a decision that added a unique twist to his character.

Duhamel plays an ex-pat assassin-for-hire who finds himself in a dangerous situation when a crime boss puts a hit on him after a fatal mistake. Fleeing to Los Angeles, he must navigate a treacherous path back to London with the help of his son, played by Jeremy Ray Taylor. Adding to the character’s complexity, Duhamel’s anti-hero also struggles with poor vision, needing a new eyeglass prescription.

In a recent interview, Duhamel discussed the challenges and rewards of playing a character who is past his prime and grappling with his own insecurities. He emphasized the importance of portraying imperfect characters who face their vulnerabilities head-on, creating a rich and multi-dimensional performance.

The conversation also turned towards the current state of the film industry in Los Angeles, with Duhamel expressing his desire to see more productions return to the movie capital of the world. He highlighted the need for incentives and collaboration with unions to make filming in LA more accessible and cost-effective, especially as new technologies like AI pose additional challenges to traditional filmmaking.

Despite the obstacles, Duhamel remains passionate about directing and shaping stories on the screen. While he may not be directing episodes of his Netflix series “Ransom Canyon” just yet, he is excited about the upcoming season and the new developments in store for his character and the show as a whole.
