In a shocking incident that underscores the ongoing tensions in Portland, a journalist was left with a visible black eye after reportedly being assaulted by a masked protester affiliated with Antifa. Katie Daviscourt, a reporter for The Post Millennial, recounted the harrowing experience during her recent appearance on Fox News.

Daviscourt was documenting a protest outside an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility when a protester wielding a flagpole approached her aggressively. “I’ve been covering Portland for the past four months, and it has been an experience marked by complete lawlessness,” she stated, recalling the attack that occurred during the protests that have persisted for months in the Oregon city.

During the interview, Daviscourt detailed the moment of the attack: “This Antifa-affiliated individual came towards me, waving a flagpole in my face. When I turned around, she swung it like a baseball bat, hitting my eye directly.”

She expressed frustration with the local police’s response, claiming they did not act after the assault. “I immediately rushed to the police, directed them towards the suspect, and asked for assistance. Despite being aware of the situation, the officers stood by while I attempted to track her down myself for about 35 minutes,” Daviscourt noted.

In a recent press release, the Portland Police Department requested the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect involved in the incident but refuted claims that they failed to provide assistance to Daviscourt. Officials stated that one of their Dialogue Liaison Officers attempted to engage the suspect, but she fled before any further actions could be taken.

“The Dialogue Officer made an effort to speak with the suspect but was met with resistance when she refused to comply with a lawful order to stop,” the police department stated. They confirmed that the Major Crimes Unit is now investigating the case. Meanwhile, the local police’s failure to intervene during the assault has drawn significant scrutiny and concern.

This incident unfolds amid President Trump’s recent directive for troop deployment to Portland, intended to safeguard ICE facilities from any potential threats posed by Antifa and other protestors. However, the state of Oregon has initiated legal measures to counteract this decision, further complicating the situation in the city.
