MILWAUKEE JUDGE ARRESTED FOR AIDING IMMIGRANT TO EVADE ARREST
The FBI arrested a Wisconsin county judge accused of assisting a man in avoiding immigration enforcement, announced Director Kash Patel.
Patel revealed in a post on X that Judge Hannah Dugan allegedly misled federal agents away from the individual, Eduardo Flores Ruiz, who was meant to be arrested in her courthouse.
Dugan’s actions, according to Patel, enabled Ruiz to escape arrest. The Justice Department did not immediately comment on the matter. When reached for inquiries, a representative from Dugan’s office declined to comment. The Associated Press also reached out to Milwaukee County Courts Chief Judge Carl Ashley for a statement.
This arrest signifies a heightened clash between the Trump administration and the judiciary regarding immigration enforcement policies. The Justice Department had previously indicated its intention to crack down on local officials impeding federal immigration efforts.
In January, the department instructed federal prosecutors to investigate state or local officials suspected of obstructing the administration’s immigration crackdown.
