The Rise of AI in the Venture World

According to a recent report by Crunchbase, AI continues to dominate the venture world with a record $189 billion of global venture capital flowing to startups in February. AI startups alone raised $171 billion, accounting for 90% of the total capital raised last month. This staggering number is just the beginning of what seems to be a continued trend.

This record-breaking spending in February was more than three times the global VC spend in January and was largely driven by massive funding rounds from three key companies: OpenAI, Anthropic, and Waymo.

OpenAI led the pack with a groundbreaking $110 billion raise, making it one of the largest private rounds ever raised and valuing the company at $730 billion. Anthropic followed with a $30 billion Series G funding round at a valuation of $380 billion. Waymo also made waves with a $16 billion raise, valuing the company at $126 billion.

Collectively, these three companies accounted for 83% of the venture capital raised last month. The combined amount raised by OpenAI, Anthropic, and Waymo in February alone represented one-third of the total $425 billion venture spend in 2025, as reported by Crunchbase.

With AI companies like OpenAI, Anthropic, and Waymo leading the charge in securing massive funding rounds, it’s clear that the future of venture capital investment is increasingly focused on artificial intelligence technologies. As these companies continue to push the boundaries of innovation, we can expect to see even more record-setting funding rounds in the months and years to come.
