Kate Beckinsale made headlines recently for her candid response to an online troll who criticized her body on social media. In a now-deleted Instagram post, the 51-year-old actress reportedly addressed the comment, stating that she was going through a deeply painful time in her life and that “the body keeps the score.”
The interaction between Beckinsale and the follower was captured by Page Six, who reported on the exchange. While Beckinsale did not elaborate further on her response, it was suggested that her reference to “The Body Keeps the Score” indicated a connection to the book by Bessel Van Der Kolk.
This incident comes on the heels of Beckinsale filing a complaint against the producers of her 2024 film, Canary Black, alleging negligence, battery, and emotional distress. The legal documents, obtained by Us Weekly, claim that Beckinsale was exposed to unsafe conditions on set, leading to severe injuries, including trauma to her left knee.
The actress and her team reportedly raised concerns about the unsafe working conditions to the defendants, including long, grueling hours on set, inadequate equipment and medical personnel, and lack of information about stunts until the last minute. Despite the filing, a spokesperson for Anton Entertainment, one of the film’s producers, maintained that they adhered to strict safety standards on all productions.
Canary Black, released on Prime Video in October 2024, follows Beckinsale’s character, Avery Graves, a CIA operative whose husband is kidnapped by terrorists. As she navigates the perilous mission to rescue her husband, Graves must confront the moral dilemma of betraying her country.
Beckinsale’s response to body shamers and her legal battle with the film’s producers shed light on the challenges she has faced both personally and professionally. Despite the setbacks, the actress remains resilient in the face of adversity, continuing to showcase her talent on screen and advocate for her well-being.
