Peacock’s upcoming mystery comedy series, “The ‘Burbs,” has announced the addition of six recurring guest stars to its cast. Haley Joel Osment, known for his roles in “Blink Twice” and “The Sixth Sense,” RJ Cyler from “The Harder They Fall” and “Me and Earl and the Dying Girl,” Justin Kirk from “Angels in America” and “Weeds,” Kyrie McAlpin from “Cheaper by the Dozen” and “Will Trent,” Danielle Kennedy from “Man on the Inside” and “Narcos,” and Randy Oglesby from “For All Mankind” and “Star Trek” will join the previously announced cast members.
“The ‘Burbs” is a modern adaptation of the 1989 film of the same name. The series follows a young couple who reluctantly move to the husband’s childhood home. Their lives are turned upside down when a new neighbor moves in across the street, bringing old secrets of the cul-de-sac to light and new deadly threats that shatter the illusion of their quiet neighborhood.
The show is written by Celeste Hughey and Rachel Shukert, who also serve as executive producers along with Keke Palmer. Nzingha Stewart will direct the first episode. Brian Grazer, who produced the original film, Kristen Zolner, and Natalie Berkus for Imagine Entertainment, and Seth MacFarlane, Erica Huggins, and Aimee Carlson for Fuzzy Door are also executive producers. The series will be filmed at the Universal Studios backlot in Los Angeles, where the original film was shot. Dana Olsen, the writer of the film, serves as a co-executive producer.
