Kelly Clarkson is well aware of the stark contrasts between performing live on stage and appearing before a camera.
“NBC would fire me, but I don’t work there anymore,” Clarkson, 44, remarked during her concert at Caesar’s Palace in Vegas on Friday, July 17, while playfully touching a fan’s sequined jacket sleeve, as captured in a video by @jpasc24. “We’re sad about it because it was a fun show.”
Clarkson concluded her The Kelly Clarkson Show in May after seven seasons.
“I think the timing makes sense to everyone,” she shared on the Today Show in February, discussing her decision to end the show. “Our family dynamic has shifted a bit, and it has been different for a while now. It’s one of those moments when you start realizing how precious life is.”
Clarkson’s ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, passed away in 2025 following a private battle with cancer at the age of 48. The former music manager is survived by his four children: River Rose, 11, and Remington, 9, with Clarkson, and Savannah, 23, and Seth, 18, with Melissa Ashworth.
Although Clarkson took a brief break from The Kelly Clarkson Show after Blackstock’s death, she returned before the finale.

“I know some people think, ‘Oh, she’s quitting,’ but I still have other jobs. I’m still active,” she noted on Today at the time. “There was too much going on. I thought, ‘It’s time to step back.’ The crew was amazing, which made it a tough decision, but it was an easy one as a mother.”
Since completing The Kelly Clarkson Show, Clarkson resumed her Las Vegas residency. She had initially put the shows on hold due to Blackstock’s illness and passing.
“It’s amusing, you attend those HR meetings and realize, ‘Nobody on the road would endure this,'” she quipped on Friday, drawing a parallel between her show and being a touring musician. “It’s just a different world. I was 19 on a bus with guys, and now they’re telling me, ‘Yeah, that’s completely inappropriate.'”
Clarkson then humorously sang, “No more HR meetings!”
“Just kidding. Everyone actually disliked attending HR meetings with me because I’m a nerd,” she admitted. “I would literally stop the class and apologize, prompting everyone to say, ‘Can we do the meeting without Kelly?’”
Clarkson mentioned that her colleagues preferred not to attend meetings with her due to her tendency to delve deeply into each topic.
“I believe it’s important to really explore the topics. You need to protect everyone,” she emphasized. “Anyway, I don’t have to do it anymore.”
