Kelsey Grammer, the beloved star of the hit TV show Frasier, has recently opened up about the tragic murder of his sister in his new memoir. The heart-wrenching details of his sister Karen’s brutal death have haunted him for nearly 50 years, and in his book, he lays bare the gut-wrenching truth of her final moments.

In July 1975, Karen, a free-spirited 18-year-old, was kidnapped, raped, and brutally murdered in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was working at a Red Lobster when she was abducted by a group of men who had initially planned to rob the restaurant. Instead, they subjected Karen to a horrifying ordeal, stabbing her 42 times, nearly decapitating her, and leaving her to die in a pool of blood.

When detectives arrived at the Grammer family home in Pompano Beach, Florida, with the devastating news that they believed they had found Karen’s body, Kelsey rushed to Colorado to identify his sister. The bond between the siblings was unbreakable, and Karen’s death left a permanent scar on Kelsey’s heart.

The perpetrators of Karen’s murder, Freddie Lee Glenn and his accomplice Michael Corbett, were responsible for her death and four other killings in Colorado Springs in 1975. Glenn, now serving a life sentence, has been up for parole multiple times, adding to Kelsey’s ongoing pain and trauma.

In his memoir, titled Karen: A Brother Remembers, Kelsey reveals how his sister’s murder has tormented him for five decades, leading him to numb his pain with drugs and alcohol. He describes Karen as the love of his life, a light in his world, and a wise and innocent soul.

The book delves into the horrifying details of Karen’s final moments, including the coroner’s examination and the brutal nature of her death. Kelsey recounts visiting the Red Lobster where Karen was abducted and retracing her final steps, shedding light on the unimaginable violence she endured.

Despite his efforts to save her, Kelsey was unable to protect Karen, a fact that has haunted him for years. The memoir ends on a poignant note, with Kelsey reflecting on his journey into the past as a way to honor his sister’s memory and come to terms with his grief.

The tragic story of Karen Grammer’s murder will forever be etched in Kelsey Grammer’s heart, but through his memoir, he hopes to shed light on the impact of violence and loss on the lives of those left behind.
