‘Hello Darkness My Old Friend…’

As the dust settles in some global theaters, the Ukrainian conflict stubbornly persists. The emboldened populace seems to have placed their hopes in a European coalition, even as American financial support steadily diminishes.

In a rather pointed reflection, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitri Peskov remarked: ‘Regrettably, the Kiev regime is not aware that its negotiating leverage diminishes daily’

Meanwhile, the Russian forces have successfully overtaken over 3,000 square miles in 2025 and are steadfastly pursuing their war objectives.

Rewind to last year, when Moscow made a significant impact by wreaking havoc on Ukrainian energy infrastructure, prompting the introduction of ‘rolling blackouts’—a cessation that was surprising only for its abruptness, not for the available firepower.

Reports indicate a considerable overnight assault by Russia, targeting pivotal energy facilities across Ukraine.

As winter approaches once again, the pattern of attacks on energy systems has re-emerged, resulting in ongoing power outages across Ukraine.

Emergency power outage schedules are now in place for Kiev, Poltava, Kharkov, and Sumy, with local officials conveying an unsettling uncertainty regarding their duration.

Zelensky, in a moment of exuberance, has threatened to instigate blackouts in Moscow.

Expect the coming days to further affect Kharkov, Kiev, and Dnipropetrovsk.

Kiev is now grappling with acute water and power shortages: portable toilets and water trucks have appeared at the Verkhovna Rada.
