Kirsten Storms Reflects on Being Temporarily Replaced in “General Hospital” Role
Kirsten Storms, known for her role as Maxie on the iconic soap opera “General Hospital,” recently shared her thoughts on being temporarily replaced in her long-standing role. Due to scheduling conflicts, Storms was temporarily replaced by Nicole Paggi, sparking a mix of emotions for the seasoned actress.
In a candid interview with Soap Opera Digest, Storms admitted that she was initially surprised by the decision to have someone step in for her character during her absence. However, she ultimately embraced the opportunity for someone to keep Maxie’s storyline alive and vibrant while she was away.
“I would be lying if I didn’t say that I was taken aback a bit by it,” Storms revealed. “I would prefer that someone play Maxie and be playing Maxie well to keep the character relevant and in the soap world still because it doesn’t take much for a character to die off and for somebody else to come in and be in a front-burner storyline. I was very excited just to know that she was still going to be in Port Charles and doing lots of things.”
This is not the first time that Storms has been temporarily replaced in her role as Maxie. Back in September 2011, actress Jen Lilley stepped in to fill the shoes of Maxie when Storms had to take a medical leave due to being diagnosed with endometriosis. Storms made a triumphant return to the show a year later, reclaiming her spot as the beloved character.
Nicole Paggi, who temporarily took on the role of Maxie in Storms’ absence, is no stranger to the character. Paggi previously played Maxie in December 2023 and has an impressive list of credits to her name, including appearances in “Clipped,” “The Rookie: Feds,” “9-1-1,” “Rizzoli & Isles,” and “Mad Love.”
Storms’ openness about her experience being temporarily replaced in her role as Maxie showcases her dedication to the character and the soap opera world. Fans can rest assured that Maxie’s storyline remained in good hands during Storms’ absence, thanks to the talented actors who stepped in to keep the character alive and thriving on screen.
