“HBO’s ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ Rides High in Ratings”
The highly anticipated “Game of Thrones” prequel, “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” has made a strong debut in the ratings, pulling in an impressive 6.7 million viewers across all platforms in its first three days of availability. According to HBO, this makes it one of the top three series launches in the history of HBO Max.
For comparison, the recent premiere of Season 2 of the Emmy-winning medical drama “The Pitt” garnered 5.4 million viewers in its first three days, while the Season 4 premiere of “Industry” attracted 800,000 viewers in the same time frame.
The success of “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” has already secured it a second season renewal at HBO. The series is one of two “Game of Thrones” prequels currently in development at HBO, with the other being “House of the Dragon.” The third season of “House of the Dragon” is slated to premiere later this year.
Based on George R.R. Martin’s novella series “Tales of Dunk and Egg,” “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” stars Peter Claffey as Ser Duncan “Dunk” the Tall, and Dexter Sol Ansell as his squire Egg. The ensemble cast also includes Daniel Ings, Bertie Carvel, Danny Webb, and many more talented actors.
Martin co-created the series with Ira Parker, both of whom serve as executive producers. Parker also takes on the role of showrunner, while Sarah Bradshaw, Owen Harris, Ryan Condal, and Vince Gerardis are also executive producers. Owen Harris and Sarah Adina Smith have directed episodes of the show, which will consist of six episodes in its first season.
Fans of the “Game of Thrones” universe can look forward to more epic storytelling and captivating characters in “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” as the series continues to capture the imagination of viewers worldwide.
