The 31st annual Screen Actors Guild Awards is set to take place on Sunday, February 23rd at 8 p.m. ET, streaming live on Netflix from the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall. This year, the SAG Awards will be hosted by the talented Kristen Bell, who is no stranger to the Netflix platform, starring in the hit comedy “Nobody Wants This.”
Bell previously hosted the SAG Awards back in 2018, and she expressed her excitement about returning as host for the upcoming ceremony. She stated, “Thrilled to be hosting the SAG Awards again this year. I’m honored to be asked back and can’t wait to share the evening with my fellow actors, celebrating ourselves.”
This marks the second year that the SAG Awards will be airing on Netflix, following a multi-year deal with the streaming service. The awards show will once again be produced by Silent House Productions, with Jon Brockett returning as executive producer alongside Baz Halpin, Mark Bracco, and Linda Gierahn.
According to SAG Awards Executive Producer Jon Brockett, Kristen Bell’s wit, warmth, and charm make her the perfect fit for the show, which celebrates actors and their outstanding performances. He humorously added, “Plus, everybody wants this,” making a playful reference to Bell’s current TV show.
In addition to “Nobody Wants This,” Bell has been busy with other projects, including the Prime Video film “The People We Hate at the Wedding” and the Netflix parody “The Woman in the House.” Her impressive resume also includes roles in “The Good Place,” “Veronica Mars,” and voicing the beloved character Anna in Disney’s “Frozen” franchise.
The SAG Awards will also honor the legendary Jane Fonda with the Life Achievement Award at the ceremony. Nominations for the 31st SAG Awards will be announced on January 8th, building anticipation for the star-studded event. Be sure to tune in to Netflix on February 23rd to catch all the excitement and celebrate the best performances of the year.
