Michigan made a significant coaching change by hiring Kyle Whittingham to lead their football program. Whittingham, the former Utah coach, signed a five-year contract to take over from the recently fired Sherrone Moore. Athletic director Warde Manuel praised Whittingham’s leadership qualities and track record of success.

Whittingham, who recently announced his departure from Utah after 21 seasons, is set to bring his expertise to Michigan. The 66-year-old coach is excited to join a program known for its tradition and excellence. Meanwhile, Utah has promoted defensive coordinator Morgan Scalley to replace Whittingham for their upcoming bowl game against Nebraska.

Moore’s dismissal from Michigan came after allegations of an inappropriate relationship and criminal charges. The university acted swiftly to hire Whittingham in order to maintain stability within the team. Whittingham’s tenure at Utah was marked by numerous achievements, including conference championships and bowl game victories.

As Whittingham embarks on this new chapter at Michigan, he expressed gratitude for his time at Utah and wished his former team continued success. His impressive coaching career, which includes national awards and a successful playing career at BYU, has prepared him for this new challenge. Michigan fans can look forward to a new era under Whittingham’s leadership.
