Michelle Pfeiffer, the acclaimed actress, is currently busy filming the Apple TV+ series adaptation of the bestselling novel “Margo’s Got Money Problems” in Los Angeles. This project also stars Nicole Kidman and Elle Fanning. Pfeiffer recently shared her concerns about the lack of film and TV production in the city, stating that out of the 23 projects she has worked on in the last 20 years, only three were shot in Los Angeles.

In a recent interview, Pfeiffer expressed her worries about Los Angeles losing its status as an industry town. She emphasized the importance of bringing back tax incentives to attract more productions to the city. Pfeiffer highlighted that production companies often choose locations based on cost-effectiveness, and if other places offer better deals, they will opt to film there, ultimately taking away job opportunities from Los Angeles.

Ben Affleck, another Hollywood star, echoed similar sentiments about the need for better tax and rebate initiatives in California to encourage more film and TV production in the state. He emphasized that other regions offer incentives that are more appealing to production companies, leading them to shift their filming locations away from California.

Pfeiffer also reminisced about her first acting job, a Ford truck commercial, which she shot in Malibu while working as a cashier in Orange County. She reflected on her humble beginnings in the industry and how her perspective on acting has evolved over the years.

Despite her successful career, Pfeiffer admitted to feeling nervous before speaking at her hand and footprint ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood. She shared her love for acting, which she discovered during a theater class in high school, and how it has shaped her life and career.

During the ceremony, Pfeiffer received tributes from colleagues like Dakota and Elle Fanning, who have worked with her in the past. The event was attended by her husband, David E. Kelly, as well as other industry professionals and co-stars from her upcoming series “Madison.”

The hand and footprint ceremony, presented as part of the 2025 TCM Classic Film Festival, was hosted by Ben Mankiewicz. It served as a celebration of Pfeiffer’s contributions to the entertainment industry and her enduring passion for acting.

Overall, Pfeiffer’s insights shed light on the challenges facing the film and TV industry in Los Angeles and the importance of revitalizing the city’s status as a hub for production. By addressing issues like tax incentives and industry support, there is hope for bringing back job opportunities and fostering growth in the entertainment sector.
