Los Angeles has once more exhibited its innovative approach, supposedly addressing the homelessness crisis with a hefty investment of $60 million, resulting in just three housing units being occupied.

highlighted the role of Nithya Raman, a Democratic Socialist who is also a member of the LA City Council and oversees the homelessness council. Raman championed a housing initiative aimed at reducing homelessness by moving individuals into apartments. Despite a $60 million budget, the outcome was the occupation of only three units.

Nithya Raman, who is also a mayoral candidate in Los Angeles, spearheaded a plan last year to transition homeless individuals into apartments. Although the plan was executed, it resulted in only three units being occupied. The city is set to continue this type of initiative, regardless of whether Raman or Karen Bass wins the upcoming mayoral election.

The New York Post reports:

LA spent $60M on a homelessness solution, resulting in just three units being occupied

Of the 2,000 apartments promised to house the homeless, only three have been filled under Nithya Raman’s $60 million project.

Raman, who chairs the Los Angeles City Council’s Housing and Homelessness Committee, launched the Time Limited Subsidy program as a cost-effective alternative to Mayor Karen Bass’ Inside Safe Program. This initiative was intended to lease 2,000 apartments for the homeless, providing rent subsidies instead of funding accommodations in motels or shelters. However, almost a year later and with $62.6 million of taxpayer money spent, only three units are occupied.

Critics suggest this exemplifies repeated claims that socialism is effective, just not yet implemented correctly. Some argue that if Los Angeles continues to invest taxpayer money in this manner, it might eventually resolve its homelessness issue.
