The iconic cast of “Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County” is coming together once again to commemorate the 20th anniversary of this groundbreaking series.
Set for release in 2026, the two-hour special titled “Roku Presents: The Laguna Beach Reunion” promises to be a nostalgic trip down memory lane. This reunion marks the first time since the show’s original airing concluded in 2006 that the complete cast will assemble. Confirmed participants include Lauren Conrad, Stephen Colletti, Kristin Cavallari, along with Lo Bosworth, Talan Torriero, Trey Phillips, Christina Shuller, Dieter Schmitz, Jessica Smith, and Alex Hooser.
“Laguna Beach” aired for three impactful seasons from 2004 to 2006, conceived by Liz Gateley and broadcast on MTV. It not only launched the careers of its young stars but also paved the way for popular spinoffs like “The Hills” and “The City.” Liz Gateley will take on the role of executive producer for the special through Damsel Media, alongside Conrad, Colletti, and Cavallari.
Liz Gateley shared her excitement, stating, “When I first pitched the show to my bosses at MTV, never in a million years did I think we would find such a perfect group of real friends. The show not only changed my life and the cast’s lives, but it has also meant so much to a generation of fans who have been waiting for this reunion.” She expressed her enthusiasm about joining forces with Roku to bring this cast back together for a special celebration two decades later.
The reunion will be executive produced by Lucilla D’Agostino, Barry Poznick, and Bill Langworthy, who will also serve as the showrunner. For Roku Originals, Olivia LaRoche and Louisa Lenander Friedman will be overseeing the production of the special.
“Laguna Beach wasn’t just a television series; it defined a generation of pop culture and paved the way for the reality genre as we know it,” remarked Brian Tannenbaum, Head of Roku Originals at Roku Media. “Reuniting this cast two decades later is a dream for us, and we’re thrilled to give streaming audiences a front-row seat to this nostalgia.”
In a nod to their lasting legacy, the cast reunited virtually in 2020 to encourage fans to participate in the voting process. Additionally, in 2022, Lauren Conrad appeared on Colletti and Cavallari’s podcast, “Back to the Beach,” where they revisited the complexities of their former love triangle, showcasing the enduring connections forged during their time on the show.
