Lamar Odom has shared how his ex-wife, Khloé Kardashian, discovered his infidelity.
During a recent appearance on the “Nothing’s Off the Table” podcast, Odom, 46, recounted, “My first stint in rehab was because she took me there,” referring to Kardashian, 42. He explained, “I was foolishly hanging out with another girl. This shows how the addict brain works. I’m married to Khloé, yet I knew this girl and she suggested, ‘Let’s go to Big Bear.’”
Despite knowing he was married, a fact known by “the whole world,” Odom joined the woman on a trip to Big Bear, California.
“It must have been a weekday in the summer when I went to Big Bear. My wife couldn’t find me and was obviously looking for me,” he recalled. “I was getting so high during the drive, sniffing and snorting. I’m not sure if I was smoking, but the girl must have been terrified when I dozed off.”
The woman used Odom’s phone to call Kardashian and inform the Kardashians star about their location.
“She first let my wife know what I was doing,” Odom remembered. “When we returned to the girl’s house, we put some coke on the table, and as I was sniffing a line, I saw a head peek around the corner. It was their mother, Kris [Jenner], who said, ‘Lamby,’ and I was messed up.”
Odom noted that there were about “six SUVs” outside, ready to take the former NBA player to a treatment facility.
“I had to go, and that was my first stint in rehab,” he recalled. “That first night in rehab, my heart and soul reached out to all my incarcerated friends. I believe that’s how I found some strength and courage.”
Throughout his marriage to Kardashian from 2009 to 2016, Odom experimented with drugs. In 2015, he overdosed at a legal brothel in Las Vegas and was left in a coma. As a result, Kardashian withdrew her divorce petition to care for Odom. After his recovery, Kardashian refiled for divorce, and it was finalized in December 2016.
Odom is now sober after completing another rehab program following his January DUI arrest.
“I met my sponsor, who’s been sober for 23 years,” he shared on the “Nothing’s Off the Table” episode. “I attended NA or AA meetings with him for the first 30 days, and we became really close. It was a humbling experience for me. I never want to stop working on myself, as it’s the most important thing I can do for me and my family.”
