A female gray wolf was found deceased in northwest Colorado this week, marking the seventh death among the state’s reintroduced wolves.
This particular wolf was one of 15 that were relocated from Canada to Colorado back in January.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife did not disclose the cause of death in their recent news release, stating that a necropsy will be conducted to determine the exact reason.
The agency was informed of the incident on Thursday, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is also involved in the investigation due to the protected status of gray wolves under the federal Endangered Species Act.
