Her sentiments echo a larger confusion among many regarding the party’s motivations in this situation.
In her remarks, she articulates a bewildering scenario: why are Democrats championing the cause of someone like García? This inquiry is as valid as it is urgent, given the illogical nature of the support they are extending. It appears to be yet another instance of the party’s instinctual reaction to oppose the Trump administration, regardless of the implications or the optics of such a stance.

“I don’t understand what they’re trying to say to the Hispanic community. Like, are they trying to get votes? Because that’s not doing it, especially for people like us, that we obey the law. I don’t understand why are they doing this? It’s not doing anything. It’s just making us more angry.”

This caller raises an important question: when has the Democratic Party gone out of its way to advocate for the rights or needs of an American citizen with the same vigor they’re showing for García? Spoiler alert: the answer is never. Ironically, it seems that the Democrats’ fervor for García is less about genuine concern for his plight and more about leveraging him as a political pawn.
