Revolutionizing Home Services in India with Snabbit
Home services in India have traditionally been offline and informally run, leading to delays and uncertainties for consumers and inconsistent pay and job insecurity for workers. However, startups like Snabbit are transforming this space by leveraging technology to bring predictability, scalability, and structure to the industry.
Snabbit, a pioneer in this arena, allows customers to book high-frequency home services such as cleaning, dishwashing, laundry, and kitchen preparation through its app, with delivery as fast as 10 minutes. Recently, the startup secured $19 million in a Series B round led by Lightspeed, Elevation Capital, and Nexus Venture Partners, valuing the company at $80 million and enabling it to expand its presence.
Founded just 15 months ago, Snabbit was born out of CEO Aayush Agarwal’s personal struggles in finding reliable home services in Mumbai. The startup adopted a full-stack approach to sourcing, screening, training, and managing workers, ensuring a seamless experience for both customers and workers.
While Snabbit faces competition from established players like Urban Company and newer entrants like Broomees and Pronto, the startup differentiates itself by offering a consistent customer experience and prioritizing the well-being of its workers.
Better Treatment for Domestic Workers
Snabbit goes the extra mile by providing personal life insurance, health insurance, accidental insurance, and family insurance to its workers. In a country where workplace abuse is prevalent and protective laws are lacking, Snabbit offers an SOS feature on its app for workers in distress.
With over 600 workers on its platform covering a median walking distance of 300 meters between jobs, Snabbit aims to expand to 200 micro markets across metro cities in India. The startup’s growth rate of 20% week-over-week and plans to hire more employees signal its commitment to transforming the home services sector.
While challenges exist in the hyperlocal consumer app space, Snabbit’s focus on customer retention and operational efficiency sets it apart. The startup’s unique value proposition and dedication to providing speed, structure, and trust in home services have garnered support from investors like Lightspeed.
As Snabbit continues to scale and innovate, it is poised to revolutionize the home services industry in India, turning what was once considered a luxury into a daily necessity.
