Investigation Underway in Lincoln Park Shooting
CHICAGO — Investigators are currently looking into the possibility that the fatal shooting of a 28-year-old man in Lincoln Park on Wednesday evening may have been related to a confrontation with package thieves. This information comes from a resident who spoke with Chicago police and a law enforcement source familiar with the case.
The victim, whose identity has not been released, resided on the 800 block of West Lill, where the shooting took place at around 9:20 p.m.
Although the investigation is in its early stages, authorities discovered a package addressed to a nearby resident near the crime scene, along with a rubber glove. Detectives are actively interviewing neighbors and reviewing surveillance footage to gather more information.
A witness reported hearing a single gunshot, witnessing a flash, and then hearing one of the suspects yell, “Let’s get out of here.” The individuals fled towards Halsted Street. The suspects are described as a Black male around 5’11” tall, wearing a gray or white hoodie, and a heavyset Black female approximately 5’8” tall, wearing a navy hoodie.
Following the incident, Alderman Timmy Knudsen of the 43rd Ward sent out an email to residents, expressing condolences for the victim and emphasizing the need for increased efforts to combat violence in the city. He urged anyone with information to contact Area 3 Detectives or email the Chicago Police Department.
As the investigation continues, Knudsen promised to advocate for additional resources to address public safety concerns in the community. He also commended the Chicago Police Department for their ongoing efforts to solve the case and bring the perpetrators to justice.
