A shocking incident unfolded in Long Island as a man was arrested for shooting his sister in the head with a crossbow, a sinister plot he had been planning since December, according to police reports.
The suspect, identified as 21-year-old Samy Sedhom, carried out the attack outside their Lawrence home around 9:23 p.m. on Friday night. The arrow fired by Sedhom grazed the right side of his 28-year-old sister’s face, causing a deep cut to her ear, as she tried to close the garage door upon returning from the gym, as per Nassau police.
Sedhom had been waiting in a car across the street for his sister to arrive home before executing the heinous attack, court records revealed. He was apprehended on Friday and confessed to authorities that he had intended to kill his sister, a plan he had been formulating since Christmas.
Following the incident, police discovered the hunting arrow embedded in the back wall of the garage. Additionally, they seized a crossbow box, a samurai sword, and a MacBook from Sedhom’s bedroom, as reported by WABC.
The victim was promptly taken to a nearby hospital and is currently in stable condition, according to Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly. Donnelly mentioned that a dispute between the siblings over the household temperature sparked the violent attack, with the sister preferring cooler temperatures while Sedhom wanted it warmer.
Sedhom now faces charges of second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, tampering with physical evidence, and first-degree stalking. He was arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Sunday, with a protective order issued for his sister. Sedhom is scheduled to appear in court again on Wednesday to face the legal consequences of his actions.
