For the second consecutive year, “Love Island USA” has removed a contestant from the villa following the emergence of social media posts where they used the n-word.
Vasana Montgomery will not participate in the upcoming season of the reality dating show, which is set to premiere on Peacock on June 2. This decision comes just two days after the Season 8 cast was revealed, underscoring a recurring issue: previously, Yulissa Escobar was dismissed in the second episode due to similar footage. Later, Cierra Ortega also left the show after using a derogatory term for Asian individuals, claiming she was unaware of its offensive nature.
In two separate videos circulating online, Montgomery is captured using the n-word. In one video, she can be heard saying “Knock knock, n—-” while engaging in what seems to be a shooting game at an arcade. In the other, she is seen in a car, rapping along with a song that includes the word. It appears these videos were initially shared on private accounts and became public only after the cast announcement, suggesting they were not available during Peacock’s vetting process.
Montgomery, 25, hails from Beaverton, Oregon. In a teaser for the cast announcement, she described herself as “the full package,” mentioning her business ownership, living alone, and having a dog. She humorously added, “If you were to ask my friends what my type is, they’d show you the world map.”
“Love Island USA” will broadcast new episodes daily during its premiere week, followed by episodes every day except Wednesdays. Ariana Madix will host the show, with narration by Iain Stirling.
